Health & Welfare: MOU section 7.5

·        Medical / Dental / Vision: Premium: $1350 / City pays - $946 / Emp. Pays - $404

Retirement: MOU section 7.2.02(4)

·        Tier 1: Employee, hired prior to 8/27/90, (average) 6.25%

·        Tier 2: Employee, hired before 9/11/14, 10%

·        Tier 2: Employees hired after 9/11/14, 12%

·        Deferred Retirement Option Plan (DROP), up to 10 years

·        Sick leave balance is factored for added retirement benefits

 

Insurance and AD&D Insurance: MOU section 7.4.05

·        Bomb Squad = $250,000

·        Helicopter pilot/observer/airplane pilot = $250,000

 

Long Term Disability (LTD):

·        Policy through PORAC - Premiums deducted through FPOA.

·        This is an insurance policy that you must apply for, contact the FPOA for information.

Deferred Compensation:

·        Savings/Mutual Funds 457 plan w/Fidelity investment options.  

 

Guaranteed Leave:  MOU section 7.11.09

·        Up to two times per matrix semester, request a day off and the time off is granted/paid for from the Guaranteed Leave Bank until the $50,000 each semester is spent.

 

Holidays: MOU section 7.11.06

·        Provided 8.667 hrs. per month in lieu of holidays

 

Vacation accruals (per month): MOU section 7.11.05(i)

·        1 - 4 years = 10 hrs.

·        5 - 9 years = 10.667 hrs

·        10 - 14 years = 12 hrs

·        15 - 19 years = 13.334

·        20 - 24 years = 15.334 hrs

·        25 - 29 years = 16.667 hrs

·        30 + years = 18.667 hrs

 

·        Members with less than 15 years of service may bank up to 340 hours

·        Members with more than 15 years of service may bank up to 420 hours

 

·        *Lateral time: Additional accruals based on qualified and continuous law enforcement service.

·        **0.666666 vacation hours deducted to FPOA time bank from your monthly accrual (this pays the salaries of the President & First Vice President along with time off needed for officers assisting the FPOA).

 

Sick Leave accruals: MOU section 7.11.01   

·        8 hrs. per month

 

Uniform Allowance: MOU section 7.6.01                                           

·        $1,300 per year ($650 paid in June and December)

 

Bilingual Pay: MOU section 7.4.09(4)                      

·        $100 per month

 

Shift Differential pays: MOU section 7.4.07            

·        Lap & Swing shifts = $160

·        Midnight shift = $240

 

Skywatch: MOU section 7.4.02                                             

·        Pilot = $500 per month  

·        Flight Instructor = $750

·        Chief Pilot = 20.5% above officer base rate of pay

 

Motor Hazard pay: MOU section 7.4.08                              

·        $275 per month

 

Corporal / FTO pay: MOU section 7.4.03                             

·        $500 per month

 

Special Duty pay: MOU section 7.4.06                                 

·        $275 per month

 

Specialized Assignments pay:  MOU section 7.4.01

·       $275 per month

 

POST pays: MOU section 7.4.11                                           

·        Intermediate Certificate = 5% above base rate of pay                                                                  

·        Advanced Certificate = 9% above base rate of pay

 

Senior Officer / Sgt pay: MOU section 7.4.12          

·        Qualifications:   

o   Officer - 15 years in classification                                                                         

o   Corporals / Sgts – 10 years in classification

                             

·        Pay:                     

o   Laps/Swings = $250 per month                                                              

o   Midnights = $300 per month

 

Court appearance overtime: MOU section 7.8       

·        Stand-by pay = 1 hr. @ time and a half (when not released by 1700 hrs the day before the subpoena date, and the morning of your subpoena is off time from work)                             

·        If on stand-by and then appear during off time, you receive a min. of 3 hrs time and a half, plus the stand by pay on a work day; if on day off and appear, you receive 4 hrs time and a half, plus the stand by pay.

 

Phone hearing:  MOU section 7.8.04

·       1 hr at time and one half minimum

 

Lateral with Prior Agency Subpoena: MOU section 7.8.06

·       The Dept will adjust the member’s work hours and/or days off, or pay OT at the Dept’s discretion, so the member can attend on duty.  Members are responsible for their travel expenses.

 

Take Home Vehicles: MOU section 7.9                   

·        Determined by Chief of Police

 

Contract Services: MOU section 8.2                         

·        “D” step police officer                                                               

·        pay at time and a half

·        4.5 hrs minimum for a contract

·        If assigned to work a contract during your normal duty shift, you have the option of submitting for time off during the duration of the contract (using holiday, comp or vacation time), and submitting for compensation for the contract at the contract rate-D step at 1.5 rate of pay.

 

Workers Compensation:   MOU section 7.7   (Provided it is consistent with State Law)

·        4850 = full pay (tax free) per reported injury/event-pays up to one year.

·        TDY= 2/3 pay (tax free) after one year of 4850 time, also known as ‘Risico’ pay for up to one year, or until Permanent & Stationary rating.

·        PORAC Long Term Disability (LTD) insurance. Must be signed up for coverage which can be obtained through the FPOA.

 

Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA): MOU section 7.11.03(8)      

·        At retirement (after age 50), sick leave balance is converted to book account at 80% and placed into an account to pay your *medical premiums.

Note: You must retire / separate within 60 ‘calendar’ days to receive this benefit. If not, it’s converted at 50%. If you are separated and haven’t applied for a retirement, you will not receive this benefit.

·        HRA Plan Document updated to enhance paying for long-term care premiums, co-insurance for medical expenses, hearing aids, dental and vision care, and prescription drugs.

 

Vacation & Deferred Comp: 

·        At retirement, a one-time transfer of unused vacation time converted to your Deferred Comp. account, up to $24,000 tax deferred (if over 50). Prior to doing this, you must consult with Fidelity and the business office to coordinate the exchange.

 

Family Events: MOU section 7.11.08

·       Submit for time off for a major family or social event with a minimum of two weeks’ notice to the Duty Office.  Once approved can’t be cancelled except for unexpected emergency for the Dept.

 

Absent with Substitute (AWS): MOU section 7.12.07

·       May have someone work for you as a substitute but the exchange arrangement must be approved in the OTTO system by the member’s supervisor 24 hours prior to the substitution.
